Hutchinson Center for the Arts’ special event programming is packed

Always…Patsy Cline
May 4 & 5 7:00pm at the Hutchinson Event Center
Created and originally directed by Ted Swindley. A musical play about the life and death of Patsy Cline. Tickets $20 HCA Member/ $25 Not Yet A Member. Tickets available here or by calling 320-587-7278

Annual Youth Arts Exhibit
May 1-29 M-Th | 10am-5pm F Noon-4pm
Annual Youth Arts Exhibit features the artworks of students from Hutchinson and surround area including Public, Charter, Private, and Home Schools. K-8 Artists May 1-10. High School age Artists May 14-29.
K-8 Reception May 10 4-6. HS  Reception May 22 4-6.

Adult Workshop: Reduction Linocut
Saturday, May 19 | Noon-3pm
Learn the basics of working on a reductive lino-block print, allowing multiple colors and layers to be printed from a single block. Participants will learn how to set up the sequential process, carve their block, and set up registration for perfect alignment every time.

DISH: Exploring Regional Culture
Thursday, May 24 | 5:30-8:30
Join us for a free evening of food, conversation & art as we explore the unique aspects of Minnesota culture
DISH is a community engagement project that combines potlucks with focused discussion. Each guest is asked to bring a family or ancestral dish to share with its recipe card. These dishes will be photographed as guests arrive to document the diversity of the group, acting like a portrait of the guest. After collecting food, guests will partake in a loosely guided conversation about the traditions, stereotypes, history, and cultural characteristics of the region.

Summer Studio Youth Classes
June & July Classes | Ages 5-18
Through hands-on experiences led by professional art instructors young artists learn the process of creating, collaboration, and problem solving. And of course they have a lot of fun!

We Are What We Learn: Barn Quilt Painting
Thursday, June 21st | 5:30-8:30
Learn to paint your own variation of the Ohio Star Barn Quilt Pattern on a wood panel. Participants will learn about the history of barn quilts and be guided through the process of painting their own barn quilt on wood. All supplies are provided. $30 Member/ $40 Not Yet A Member

Webs, Hives, Nests: Works by Laura Corcoran, Tammi Joy Parsons, and Sharon Rotz 
June 11-July 31 | M-Th 10am-5pm F Noon-4
Three distinct artistic voices exploring themes of ecology and nature: Printmaker Laura Corcoran (St. Paul, MN), encaustic painter Tammi Joy Parsons(Spicer, MN), and contemporary quilter Sharon Rotz (Litchfield, MN). Audiences will be captivated by the richness and mastery of how each artist uses her material to stitch, draw, and paint compelling stories of human connection to the natural world.
