HYPE 15: The Blair Witch Project Experience

The legend of the Blair Witch is said to have begun in Blair, Maryland in 1785.

Elly Kedwards was an Irish immigrant whom the townsfolk believed had been kidnapping children. They accused her of being a witch and exiled her to the woods of, what is now known as, Burketsville Maryland with no provisions. They presumed Elly had succumbed to the harsh winter and perished. By the end of that same winter most of the Blair children had disappeared. Afraid, the townspeople declared the town and the woods cursed; they abandoned their homes and vowed never to speak of Kedwards again.

7 children go missing in Burketsville from 1940-1941….read the rest here: http://www.castleofspirits.com/blairwitch2.html

HYPE 15 is excited to share one of film’s most unique stories of all time. It’s the original found-footage film, implemented an incredible marketing campaign, took only 8 days to film, and made millions off a minuscule budget.

Join us in the woods October 15th for a FREE screening. But, we are just watching the film, we are experiencing it.

Hang out by the bonfire starting at 6:00pm, Cash Wise has provided S’mores for you to enjoy!
Please throw a few bucks (or more!) into the Witch’s Hat when it passes you. This is a great way to donate to the Arts and allows us to continue doing FREE, unique events like this for our community.
The Blair Witch Project will start at 7:00pm.
Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, snacks and bug spray to the woods. Have some fun and get ready to be spooked! A mini-biff is provided for your convenience.
NO Alcohol is permitted on site. Be respectful, this is private property that we have permission to use for one night only.

Thank you to The Jacobsens, NU-Telecom, Hutchinson Center for the Arts Board of Directors, and Cash Wise for supporting the Arts!

“In October of 1994, three student filmmakers disappeared in the woods near Burkittesville, Maryland, while shooting a documentary. One year later, their footage was found”……
