“It’s All One World” Art Exhibit
April 11, 2015 @ 4:00 pm - April 23, 2015 @ 5:00 pm
“It’s All One World” is the name of the upcoming art exhibit featuring sister and brother, Mary Mulenburg (Glencoe) and David Sather (Madison, WI).
Mary is a nature photographer and is a member of the art center and the Hutchison Photography Club. She says her passion has been photography since she first picked up a camera as a teen. She majored in photography when getting her Fine Art degree from Washington State University-Pullman in 1992. She says she has always felt drawn to capture the beauty of her natural surroundings and share her delight with others. She hopes that people who view her images will feel a sense of appreciation and reverence for our world, as well as motivation to do what they can to protect it. She finds all nature topics photo worthy, but finds herself especially drawn to water reflections and clouds with their abstract qualities and continually changing movement. Mary has images on display at www.flickr.com/photos/marymulenburg.
David is a painter and graphic designer. After getting his Fine Art degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1992, he went on to Madison Area Technical College, studying graphic design and commercial art. Working for many years in Minneapolis as an art director and graphic designer, he never lost the urge to paint and create art. Experimenting with different materials, he stumbled upon sandpaper as a painting surface.Vintage styles and fashions, toys, birds and nature are some of the subjects he explores. Unusual colors and graphic patterns are consistent elements. David has exhibited in galleries in Wisconsin and Minnesota. You can view his art at www.davidsatherart.com.
This exhibit is made possible in part by a grant Mary received from the Southwest Minnesota Arts Council with funds from the McKnight Foundation, and by the voters of Minnesota thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
