Stephanie Frey is an artist based in St. Paul, Minnesota. She received her BFA from the College of Visual Arts and is currently working as an arts instructor and freelance illustrator. Select clients and artwork included in Design Mom, Cordella Magazine, Illozine, Graze Magazine, Murphy Square Quarterly and others. Many of her images highlight an urban landscape though the ordinary moments of her day-to-day life.
Stephanie’s work is on view at the Hutchinson Center for the Arts August 13 – September 21, 2018. Join us at a public reception for the artist August 30th from 5:00 – 6:30 pm.

Curious, Playful, Observant, Simple
What would be your dream project?
I would love to create an experimental graphic novel / artist book of some sort.
If you could host a dinner party and invite 4 artists/designers/creatives (living or dead) who and why?
Maira Kalman (She could tell a funny and odd story), Eleanor Davis (Her wit and observations), Henri De Toulouse-Lautrec (To get some pointers in creating posters), Tom Waits (Who wouldn’t invite Tom Waits???), and JooHee Yoon (So we could play a collaborative drawing game).
What are your favorite past times outside the studio?
Camping and hiking, knitting complicated patterns, and waking up early.
